Bálint Bachmann

is Rector at the Budapest Metropolitan University and since 2014 head of the Marcel Breuer Doctoral School of Architecture Pécs. He is associate at Bachmann & Bachmann Architects, Pécs and has work experience from office like at Pálffy & Associates in Tokyo, Japan.

Bálint, who studied architecture in Würzburg/ Germany and Pécs/ Hungary, is a Dr. of Liberal Arts. In his research, he has specialized in the sustainability and energy efficiency in architecture. He is member of the Board of the Chamber of Hungarian Architects and member of the European Network of Heads of Schools of Architecture (ENHSA) and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pollack Periodica. He joins the subcommittee of the European Association of Architecture Educators (EAAE) for Periodicals and Research in Architecture. From 2007 to 2018, Bálint has also been member of the Board of Education in Arts and Engineering of the Hungarian Accreditation Commission (MAB) and is working as an international expert for UIA's Education Committee (EDUCOM) since 2017. He was the curator of the Hungarian Pavilion at the 13th Venice International Architecture Biennale in 2012.
